About Us

We strive to be the ultimate inmate service, serving the incarcerated and their families. Here at The Inmate Connection, our founders and staff are a collective of understanding and strong-willed loved ones of the incarcerated, and empathetic former inmates who only needed a second chance. Together and connected, we strive to help end recidivism and offer rehabilitation. Our goal is for inmates to use their time of incarceration as an opportunity to strengthen their personal well-being, and also as their relationships with loved ones. The Inmate Connection also strives to offer release assistance through our Inmate Connection Release Program.

In America, almost 1% of the population is incarcerated, which means about 1 every 100 people in our country are currently sitting inside of a cell or prison dormitory. After serving time, inmates are released to what? Unfortunately, chances and opportunities are in short supply for this population. Over 10,000 parolees are released in America each week. Worst of all, about 67% of those parolees are expected to re-offend within two years of their release. Why are parolees not hired on the same day they are released? Can they be? Some are released with no address or even valid identification. What about contact information? When is the last time you applied for a job without a phone number? Not to mention, most job applications are completed online and require an established email account. This is just one example of why support and encouragement during the transition home after incarceration is SO important. Most parolees agree that their biggest desire upon release is simply to gain legitimate employment. To contribute to this cause, we assist inmates with connecting to potential employers who are enthusiastic about our mission, and are eager to help inmates re-establish themselves with securing meaningful employment before their release date. Receiving mail and feeling connected to society is crucial for incarcerated individuals. Unfortunately, some inmates do not receive mail. The Inmate Connection has established different inmate mail packages to guarantee mail for those that are interested, we also offer incarcerated individuals the opportunity to list their penpal profile on our site to help locate potential penpals to help productively pass their time. We also offer fun special occasion packages to offer friends and family of the incarcerated the opportunity to make their inmates birthday, special occasion, holiday, or other custom or personalized event special for their inmate!

We also offer inmates the opportunity to let their family and friends know how much their support is appreciated. We offer a variety of gift packages and other items for inmates to send their loved ones. We send out various new package order forms throughout the year, especially during the holidays. We have a package to fit any holiday, birthday, or celebration. All direct inmate orders are completed through mail ordering. However, due to many customer requests, we have added the option to order packages and/or gifts on behalf of an inmate to save inmates postage, envelopes, and check processing time.

The Inmate Connection cares deeply about children with incarcerated parents. We know first hand how difficult it can be for children to have an incarcerated parent, and we try to do our small part to help promote healthy relationships between inmates and their children. We offer incarcerated parents the opportunity to send various items to their children throughout the year to remind them they are always thought of. Our team has created a holiday & birthday drives to assist inmates with providing gifts for their children whom otherwise do not have the means to do so. We also give children the opportunity to send their parent something special throughout the year too. Maintaining relationships with family and friends during incarceration is so important. We also offer a variety of other resources for inmates and families.

The hopes and changes we are striving for within our justice system do not happen overnight, but we hope to make a genuine difference over time. Along with our list of aspirations for our future, we are inspired by you and your stories and we truly want to help. We are here for you! The convicted, the released, soon to be released, those with longer sentences, those with no release date at all, and you reading this now, however you’ve been affected by incarceration, or if you’re just looking to help us make a difference by donating to our cause. We understand that the families affected by incarceration are often the silent victims, having to go through life separated from someone they love. Our anonymous advice column is updated weekly, and questions are accepted anytime. We are here for you, and to support you with staying connected to your loved one. We also offer a variety of services to inmates, including gift baskets for their families to show you how much your support means to them! Don’t forget to check out our shop!

OUR FOUNDERS

The Inmate Connection was created at a kitchen table by a husband & wife team who first handedly endured life as a prisoner and prison spouse. They endured countless obstacles, judgements, and barriers- but the support of each other is what really got them through the most challenging part of their lives. It didn’t take them long to realize that the challenges do not end after prison and that the justice system is extremely broken. Together and connected, they work hard each day to help those in similar positions and reduce recidivism.
